MicroHabitat takes root at Le 1500 and the Montreal Eaton Centre

Le 1500 is proud to announce the launch of MicroHabitat, a new urban agricultural project that has taken root on the rooftops of Le 1500 and the Montreal Eaton Centre. The well-being of our community, and that of our environment, are important to us, which is why Ivanhoé Cambridge has partnered with MicroHabitat on this pilot project to transform Le 1500 and the Montreal Eaton Centre’s rooftops into flourishing gardens.

Comprised of 30 pots of fine herbs and seasonal fruits and vegetables, these urban gardens help contribute to downtown Montreal’s greenspaces, as well as our sustainable development efforts with the growing of produce that is 100% ecological and local. Harvested weekly by the experienced MicroHabitat team, the gardens not only contribute to the bettering of our environment, but to our community, too, as each harvest is collected and donated to Dans La Rue, a local non-profit organization that helps homeless and at-risk youth. A total of 18 harvests are planned for our first season, which will come to an end in October.
