Environment
A new way of doing things The Montreal Eaton Centre has put forth ethical and ecological initiatives, working on a change driven in collaboration with our operations team as well as with our retailers and customers. It is the sum of daily gestures that can make all the difference. Steps already taken:
- Recycle all paper and cardboard from boutiques and restaurants.
- Recycle used grease from the restaurants.
- Recycle used drink cans.
- Reduce the use of paper as well as printing on both sides within the administration office.
- Use a building management system which minimizes the operation energy costs.
- Use non-hazardous cleaning products for the environment. This includes hand soap used in the shopping center washrooms.
- Use automatic valves on faucets and urinals which minimizes water flow.
- Selling of reusable lunch bags and eco bags.
- Recycle and recuperate plastic, metal and glass (bins are located near freight B).
- Print marketing material on 100% post-consumption paper with vegetable ink.
- Changing conventional garbage cans into recycling cans that will divide paper, glass and metal.
- Water consumption meters in all the boutiques and restaurants. This installation allows us to better understand our water habits and needs, in order to reduce our consumption.
- Introduction of reusable bags.
